We were in the unenviable position of having to sell our previous home at the bottom of the market a few years ago. David Martin could not have been a better choice as our realtor. David was a huge help when we had to go through the process of evicting rental tenants and selling my grandmother's house. He wasn't handling the landlord and eviction process, but he did have some advice for us based on his experience And because we had talked to him prior to completing the eviction, he was not only patient, thankfully, but he had also completed research and done some work ahead of time. Once the tenants were out, he had great recommendations for contractors to assist with cleaning and any repairs, ours were minor. He took great photos of the house. It received a top number of views for the area, and it's an old house with really no special or outstanding features. We had offers in a week. He guided us towards the most stable and financially feasible offers, and we went into escrow easily. It was smooth for us, which is more than you can ask for with such a large task that can be so stressful for others.

David is very knowledgeable about the market and real estate in general. He is extremely helpful and always responsive and on time. After losing my father and then six months later my mother, it was devastating. When I realized I would not be able to keep my child hood home, it was almost too much to bare. A friend had been to one of David's open houses in my parents neighborhood. From our first meeting he understood the sensitively of the situation.  He listened to my needs/concerns, never pressured me, made the whole process as painless as could be. There are different types of real estate agents out there.  There are the ones who come knocking on your door (at their convenience, not yours).  The ones who leave things on your doorstep: salt (really?!), sports calendars, bags of popcorn.  There are the ones who mail their brochures to every home in an area, and won't take you off their mail/call lists even after you ask.  The Ones Who Think Every Word Must Be Capitalized.  In their dealings with me, these people make me feel less like a person, and more like a means to an end, that end being a sale for them.  I know it's a competitive business out there, but surely there must be another way...

I got a different feeling from David, right from the start, because of how he presented himself.  He is professional without being arrogant or pushy.  Twice over the last 6 or 7 years, I've asked him what my house was worth, and each time he came back with a well-thought-out number, and an explanation for it.  With other agents I've spoken to in the past, a single contact like this has resulted in a barrage of calls, emails and mailings, hounding me to sell my home, by listing with them, of course.  Kind of makes me want to run and hide from them.  Not so with David; he would occasionally send me an update, but no pushiness.  Just keeping me informed.  There's a line there somewhere, and he knows where that line is.

Fast forward to 2017, when I decided to sell my home.  It seemed to me an insurmountable task to prepare it for the market.  Once again, I called David.  (As I always knew I would, based on his treatment of me in the past.)  He is very in tune with the real estate market on a day-to-day basis, and has a wealth of experience to draw from.  With calm and knowledgeable guidance, he helped me put together a timeline for what needed to happen, and when and why.  He was a great team player, meeting with tradesmen when I could not, to keep things moving along according to schedule.  He was always on time, and very patient with all my questions, some of which I'm sure I asked more than once!  He also has a nice sense of humor, and we often laughed at the absurdities in life.
